Impressive Event Hall in the heart of the Villány wine region

Our family estate and winery in the In the most beautiful village of the Villány wine region, Palkonya located. The construction of our winery We started in 2010, and as part of the cellar investment, we decided to further enrich the life of the winery and the village with a theatre and event hall. Many people ask: where did the idea come from?

The idea came simply from the desire to promote not only the wine industry but also the culture and cultural experiences play an important role in the local community and for visitors to the wine region. The building was designed to provide an ideal setting for the winery as a cultural space for larger events, for concerts, theatre performances, and any event that adds value for visitors while connecting the worlds of wine and culture.

In 2007, Palkonya was awarded the Europe Cultural Village title, and the motto of the village reflects this special harmony: "Palkonya, where Wine and Culture meet." The tiny town deserves this title, as the cellar row of 53 press houses covering the hillside at the end of the village and the continuous, active cultural activities have defined the atmosphere of Palkonya for centuries. In addition to preserving the architectural and material values, one of its most important characteristics is that more than fifty residential buildings is under local protection.

As a result of the collaboration between wine producers, the local government and local residents, the Palkonya Pentecost Open Cellars event has been part of the life of the town for decades, and has an equally important tradition in the Devil's Den Festival, a unique venue for the village with its alternative arts programme.

Continuing these initiatives, we thought why not make Palkonya the Villány Wine Region - a cultural citadelwhere wine and culture can truly come together, even in a wine tasting combined with theatre performance or wine dinner where we can offer wine and culture lovers visiting the wine region a special gastro-cultural experience.

In order to achieve the above objective, we decided to use the former palkonyai quarry in an abandoned mining yard, which will be the wine processing space above a theatre and event space includes. The cellar investment was made in a unique setting, with the on the shore of the Palkonya pond, with a magnificent view of the cellar of Palkonya, the listed for the round church, and the blossoming orchards on the other side of the valley.

The acoustic design of the room was - among other things - Arató Akusztikai Kft., which also designed the Kodály Centre in Pécs. making it the perfect concert venue thanks to its special design.
