From Cellar to Cellar - Variations on Vincé

According to an old custom, on St. Vince's Day, the vine-growers would go from cellar to cellar tasting each other's wines and predicting the richness of the next harvest from the weather and the condition of the pruned "Vince's canes". "When the sun shines on the holy Vintze, the pintze will be full and there will be plenty of good wine", the common weather rule that good weather brings good harvests. Thanks to the tradition of Vince Day, the Villány-Siklós Wine Route organises the Vince Barrel, Vineyard Walk and Dinner in the Villány wine region every January, with Mokos Winery as a regular participant. The winemakers of Palkonya also invite wine lovers to a cellar tour during the all-day Open Vince Day in Palkonya. WineRush in Villány

The Villány wine region's 3-day spring festival offers a wide range of activities. Maypole exhibition, Wine-Autumn football match, handicraft activities, horse-drawn carriage rides or hiking and cycling tours through the vineyards of the wine region. In addition, there will be artistic and cultural programmes with blues, jazz and rock'n'roll concerts and performances by the Hungarian dance hall. A series of monthly events from May to August. On Fridays, different types of outdoor popular music concerts - such as Dead Money, Supernem, Margaret Island, Paso - attract visitors to Villány, followed by a street party until dawn. Villányi RozéMarathon

100 Long strides in Villány! One of the biggest and most atmospheric events in the wine region, focusing on the great summer favourite, rosé. Concerts, gastronomic specialities and sporting events will add colour to the festival. The RozéMarathon is part of the Rozé Fröccs Festival, where runners run the distance in a carnival atmosphere, accompanied by rosé fröccs and raspberry schnapps. Devil's Den Festival

The festival has been held every August since 2008 and has become increasingly successful. The aim of the event is to showcase the artistic richness of the Hungarian people in the region, which is why it features theatre and dance performances, a variety of popular music concerts, film screenings, family and literary programmes, exhibitions and many other cultural experiences. Not only the programmes, but also the venues are diverse. The various performances will take place in Beremend, Kisharsány, Nagyharsány, Vylyan and Mokos Winery.

 During the festival, the doors of the cellars in Palkonya will also be open if you fancy a fine wine or a cold spritzer. The biggest and best-known festival in the wine region, where the best red wines of Villány take centre stage. For 3 days, a large-scale harvest parade, concerts, folklore shows, gastronomic and children's programmes await visitors to the event, which takes place on the first weekend of October. Martin's Day is the last day before the 40 days of Advent fasting, when good and rich food and merriment are allowed.
